This was a very well written book with engaging stories of all things elections. As someone new to the world of elections and experiencing a steep learning curve, I found this book to be on point.
I never really thought about all it takes to run an election and how stressful this line of work is until I was in it and this book captures all of the behind the scenes processes that voters rarely think about. I really enjoyed the in depth stories and experiences from the election workers that the author shadowed and interviewed and learning about the varying successes and failures. It’s amazing how differently elections are run from state to state and learning about how things are handled differently depending on state laws is very interesting. I was also pleasantly surprised to see current information related to covid-19.
Overall, this is a great read about a topic that we typically only hear about at certain times of year and when things go wrong. Showcasing the “other 364 days” provides a better understanding of everything that goes into our electoral process.
